We started small and grew

Meet the Peak Performance Painting Team

The Peak Approach

In a small community, a business’s success depends on repeat customers. We take great pride in the reputation we have established as the leading Bow Valley interior and exterior paint company, serving residential and commercial clients in the incredible communities of Canmore, Banff, Cochrane and surrounding areas.

Eric Massey co-owner

Eric began Peak Performance Painting back in the summer of 2006 after running painting companies in Montreal and Calgary. Canmore was the next step as he was being called to the mountains. Work came fast as demand for skilled and reliable painters was huge and the company grew quickly. At this point, Eric’s friendship with Joe turn into a business partnership in 2010. Now, Eric gets to spend more doing what he loves most–inspiring our clients during colour consultations and helping their vision become reality. In the community, Eric can be found teaching swing dance or peddling around town on his penny-farthing with his family.

Joe Splane co-owner

When Joe partnered with Eric in 2010, it was a natural fit for the two. Joe brought his experience of running his own contracting and painting business and saw this as an opportunity to improve and grow the Peak business. Joe runs the exterior painting and lighting division at Peak, along with business operations and marketing. He will be the first to admit that he might spend a little too much time in front of the computer–but he loves building systems and improving organization to make the client experience seamless. Outside of work, Joe is happiest going on adventures with his family and playing shows with his band The Brews, at the Canmore Brewery.

Bonny McTaggart
Office Manager

Bonny has been with us since nearly the beginning. She managed our book keeping for years and as we grew in size, she naturally stepped into the role of Office Manager. Bonny has a penchant for organization, systems and keeping Eric and Joe on task even during the busiest months. Bonny is your first point of contact at Peak and we couldn’t ask for a more friendly and personable person for that role. It’s one of the many reasons why we appreciate Bonny and her commitment and support over the years. When not managing Eric and Joe’s work lives, she can be found working on her golf swing with her husband Mike.

Eli Trost

Born and raised in Canmore, Eli began with us back in the spring of 2013. Eli gained his skills and quickly proved to be an integral part of the Peak team, with a total understanding of how a job site runs, he is now a site manager. Eli’s exterior painting prowess translated into interior painting where he quickly evolved into a fully skilled painter. From spraying to staining to wall roll outs, Eli’s strength is in constantly turning out top-notch work. When Eli is not at work, you can find him mountain biking, at the hill, or at the dog park with his girlfriend and their dog Bucky.

Owen Ellis

In February 2014, Owen joined the Peak family. A Red Seal painter with decades of wisdom (or as we call it “Old School”) he earned his experience in Nottingham, England and then went on to run his own painting outfit in Seattle. Owen shines with any of our technical projects from stain and lacquer to wall paper and faux finishes–he’s our go-to problem solver. Owen always brings his very English sense of humour to the job site, which we are all reassured would be funny if we were British…

Petr Blaha

Having just arrived in Canada in May 2015  from Czech Republic Petr joined our team after he brought his cousin to translate our interview. Petr is a workhorse–moving large ladders on his own, putting in long days and taking over projects when his understanding of our trade quickly advanced. He has production down to a science and his speciality is managing large scale projects. Not only is Petr an experienced painter, but also brings his mechanic know-how, maintaining our fleet of vehicles and lifts. Petr can often be found at the dirt track in Calgary taking on 100 ft jumps on his Motocross bike, when he is not at work.

Kirstie Gretton

After painting for six years in Toronto, Kirstie joined Peak in the spring of 2015. The mountain lifestyle paired with the short commutes suited her well and she never looked back. Aside from specializing in interior painting, she also manages our safety program and employee training. Kirstie is always on top of any new Alberta Safety laws and makes sure everyone is always operating safely at work–this is one of the many reasons we are so grateful for her! On her days off, she can be found camping or at a local park with her partner and her son.

Felix Tremblay

Felix began with Peak in April of 2016. Trained under our leading exterior painters and specializing in servicing our high-end clients throughout the Bow Valley. By his second season, Felix was running his own team and was a fixture in Silvertip. His work ethic is what sets him apart and has proven time-again that you can move at a quick pace without sacrificing quality. Felix is a leader in both interior and exterior painting here at Peak, and has since become a key manager helping oversee exterior operations. On the Weekends, you can find Felix in the back country searching for new trails with his girlfriend and their two dogs, Java and Jinte.

Reamonn Joshee

Reamonn joined the crew in 2019 after working as a commercial and residential painter in Edmonton. Reamonn fit in quickly with his laid back personality and can-do attitude. Reamonn is at-home with all aspects of residential repaints and clients seem to fall in love with him everywhere he goes ;). Though Reamonn is an experienced painter, his true passion is in film–where he’s been an actor, writer and director for over 15 years. One of the things he loves about working with Peak is the flexibility, and being able to take time off for film shoots. You can find some of his projects on Netflix and Amazon Prime. You’d never know it speaking with him, but he’s kind of a big deal!

Martin Panik

Moving from Slovakia where he was an engineer, Martin joined us in the spring of 2020 after looking to make a big change. He brought a wealth of problem solving skills along with an incredible desire to work hard–clients have been known to break a sweat just watching him work. He took no time at all to understand the ins-and-outs of painting and soon began to run is own crew and job sites. Production is where he is happiest and can see his work come together quickly. Outside of work, Martin enjoys camping and hanging out with his family.

Nora Gatialova

In the spring of 2020 Nora began working with Peak. She showed skill in all aspects of painting, never shying away from the hard to access roof work and long production days. She showed leadership early and has stepped into the exterior site leader role easily, moving through projects with ease. If you don’t see her tearing up the trails on her mountain bike on the weekends, you can usually find her walking around town with her black lab.

Superior interior or exterior painting project

Satisfaction Guaranteed

We guarantee our work so that our clients have peace of mind. In order to look good and last a long time, a superior interior or exterior painting project requires a careful assessment, meticulous preparation, and professional skill in application. Because we are locals too, we know the effects of the unique Bow Valley weather conditions on exterior paint and stained surfaces, so we ensure that all the necessary steps have been taken to maximize the longevity of our product’s lifespan. If at any time you feel that we have not lived up to our promise of a superior and enduring paint job, we’ll gladly come back and do what’s necessary to make sure that you are completely satisfied.

Well-established and familiar

An Efficient Approach

Because our crew is large and well-managed, we work to efficient timelines but never rush a paint project. We have the breadth of personnel and equipment to take on large-scale interior and exterior residential or commercial paint jobs without relying on the schedules of equipment rental companies or waiting for crew members to finish other jobs. Our processes are well-established and familiar to everyone who works for us, so we maintain a professional standard in client service, setup and cleanup, and workmanship.

Our new ebike crew is ideally outfitted to serve smaller-scale jobs (up to a first-storey roofline). A well-known sight around Canmore, the ebikes and their equipment trailers are one small way we try to minimize our environmental impact.

Nothing is more important than crew safety

Safety First

At Peak Performance, nothing is more important than the safety of our personnel. Our full-time safety coordinator ensures our compliance with ministry safety standards, organizes ongoing training for high-access work, and arranges for ongoing first-aid training for key personnel.

Choose Peak Performance

Peak Performance is the Bow Valley’s first choice for the highest quality professional interior and exterior painting, staining, and clearcoating. In addition to buildings and trim, our team has a wealth of experience painting and staining decks, stairs, and fences.

Let’s talk about your upcoming project!

Our team of paint professionals is thoroughly trained, professional, and courteous. Because we run a crew of 25 people, we have the ability to turn large jobs around quickly, and can also deploy small crews to small jobs without delay.

This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
