Yes.  We are a licensed and fully insured painting company.  Our employees are fully covered under WCB.

Labour is your number one cost. The price depends on the amount of surface preparation, repairs that are needed, attention to detail, and expertise of the contractor. We also use the highest rated paints for longest lasting results. Experience has taught us that the more time we spend on preparation and attention to details, the longer the paint job will last, saving the customer money in the long run. We also understand budget needs and we always have options to fit a client’s needs.

We offer our clients a complete satisfaction guarantee.  If at any point you feel there is something missed or that we could have been done better, we will come back, hassle free, to make sure any area of concern is dealt with.  We take great pride in the painting craft, and we go to great lengths to make sure our clients’ needs are met.

There are several excellent acrylic and alkyd paints on the market, each with their own specific applications.  We always quote using top of the line products. By paying a few extra dollars on quality paint in the beginning, the client always saves money in the long run.

Canmore has the some of the harshest weather this country has to offer.  The constant freezing and warming will do a number on your exterior. Moisture will fight to escape from the wood surface, peeling away at the paint.  Also, poor surface preparation will always cause problems to alpine painting projects.

In order for a paint job to stand up to Canmore’s weather, here are a few tips.

1. Remove all loose, flaking paint with 80 or 100 grit sandpaper, scuff all other surface areas so the paint can penetrate the wood.

2. Caulk all cracks, joints and gaps on the exterior siding.  This will prevent any moisture from settling in the wood. This also helps trap heat in the home which keeps heating bills down in the winter.

3. Use a Sikkens Log and Siding Finish or Rubbol Siding Finish.  These paint and stain products are the best on the market at this time.

That depends.  There are several factors that determine how long paint will last.  Poorly prepared surfaces will peel and crack, darker colours fade and older wood doesn’t hold paint as long as newer wood does. The quality of paint used on past paint jobs will also determine the length of time it will last.  The best advice is to paint before peeling or fading starts. A significant portion of the cost of an exterior paint job is for surface preparation. This can be avoided with maintenance. Plan to paint your home every four to six years with touch ups on problem areas every year or two.

We understand budget needs and the desire to save money in the beginning, but we highly recommend using high quality paint which will save you money in the long run. High quality paint has more solids, known as binders, and less solvents than your cheaper paints. Once applied, the solvents evaporate, leaving a much thicker and stronger film in the higher quality paints. The cheaper paint may look fine when first applied, but it has a much thinner and weaker coverage, drastically reducing its lifespan.

Some other things to consider with high quality paints are:

-better mildew resistance

-less likely to flake off or peel

-much better adhesion

-superior durability

-better UV protection

-excellent colour retention

We operate on a first-come first-served basis.  We have enough skilled painters to be able to get to our clients’ projects quickly and efficiently.
